A Modern Glass-Enclosed Wine Room with Contemporary Elements
The team constructed a beautiful modern glass wine room for this trendy design-savvy client. This client wanted the team to integrate contemporary design for his dream wine cellar build. Steve Pantalemon, with years of magnificent wine cellar design experience under his belt, confidently took on this project. His team installed a white acrylic back panel with LED lighting to bring out the beauty of the client’s wine collection. Then, the team mounted an exclusive Wine Cellar Designers Group (WCDG) metal wine pegs on the white back panel.
The Custom Wine Cellar Austin team used the minimalist approach to installing this wine cellar’s cooling system. The vent of the cooling unit on the ceiling is the only visible part inside the cellar. And to finally complete the modern theme, the team used glass panels to enclose the wine cellar.
When the team installed these glass panels for the wine room, there were some challenges. But the team managed to resolve it. Continue reading to learn what solution the team came up with along with other details of this wine room project.
Ultramodern Wine Racking System for the Glass-Enclosed Wine Room
To complete the modern wine cellar design of the wine room, the team mounted triple-deep metal pegs to the white acrylic LED light panel. These wine pegs were made exclusively by Wine Cellar Designers Group. It has brushed-metal finish giving it an exquisite appearance. Each pair of metal wine pegs can hold up to three bottles. In terms of versatility, this bottle can hold almost any bottle size. And from afar, wine bottles placed on these pegs appear to float in midair. With the LED back panel turned on, bottles placed on the shiny wine pegs look even more gorgeous.
Aside from the metallic wine pegs, the glass wine room also has horizontal displays for champagne. Then there are shelves for case storage on the right-hand side. And lastly, there are small shelves for liquor bottles where the light coming from the LED panel will penetrate the alcohol bottles, which will give these bottles an exciting look.
Almost Zero Visibility of the Cooling System
Steve and the team installed a ceiling-mounted, split-type cooling system from WhisperKOOL to refrigerate the room. The condensing unit was placed on the roof, and the vent was ducted into the center of the room. This orientation removes the sight of the bulky mechanical parts of the cooling unit. Inside the cellar, the vent up on the ceiling is the only visible part of the cooling unit. For aesthetics, the team aligned the vent with the glass door of the wine cellar, the wooden shelf, and the cabinetry in the center of the wine room.
Challenges the Team Faced in Installing the Glass Panels
The team encountered an obstacle during the construction phase of the project. Sunlight goes into the wine room during the day. Since the wine cellar will be enclosed in glass, the continuous buildup of heat would create a condition that would encourage condensation. The formation of water droplets in the wine cellar is a bane for wine storage. Molds would proliferate. That, in turn, would affect the sealing property of corks from the bottle. Air would get inside the bottle, which would ruin the wine’s quality.
The team resolved this nuisance by using metal frames for the glass panels. These metal frames provide a better seal compared to frameless glass panels. The cooling system would work efficiently. Finally, the metal frame will prevent condensation in the wine room.
Trendy LED Wine Cellar Lighting System
The white acrylic LED back panel for this wine cellar is a sight to behold. The number of wine aficionados installing this innovative wine cellar lighting for their wine room is continuously increasing. Wine cellar owners love the simple and subtle way of highlighting their wine collection with this type of LED lighting.
You’re probably wondering how the team assembled such a fantastic art piece for wine cellar lighting. Steve and his team sandwiched the LED lighting between a wood panel at the back and a white acrylic at the front. And then, the team mounted the wine pegs on the white acrylic panel. With the lighting on, delicate light passing through the acrylic board gives the right amount of brightness to showcase the wine bottles.
